Update: Friday, March 30, 2007
Hey Everybody!! It's been a little while since we've done a news update on here so I'd like to take a moment or two and get you guys caught up with us.
I'm happy to announce that the Smiles For Kids Foundation was able to donate over 150 toys to the Sloan-Kettering Hospital's pediatric center in New York. I'm sure we put smiles on many faces and made the holidays a little brigher. For more inforation on the Sloan-Kettering Hospital you can visit them at www.mskcc.org
Another website you should check out is www.lukegilliganfoundation.com Luke is a 1 year old little boy who shortly after his first birthday was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This rare cancer in Luke's soft tissue is called PNET (primitive neuroectodermal tumor), which effects approximately 3 in 100,000 kids.
In August of 2006 Luke had undergone brain surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philidelphia. Only about 80% of the tumor was able to be removed. Since then Luke has had many painful procedures and started chemotherapy treatments in hopes to shrink and potentially eliminate the remaining cancer.
For long drives to the hospital The Smiles For Kids Foundation donated a video system for the Gilligan family van and 15 dvds for Luke to watch. In a recent email we received from his parents we were told that Luke loves to watch his Blues Clues while they're on the road.
Unfortunately we have not had another show since our Rock the Park event. But don't worry because we've got some new events in the works. Of course we'll have more concerts with some new bands as well as ones we've worked with in the past, and in some new venues. Also coming us we have a bake sale and basket raffle with items donated from various businesses around the Bernardsville/Basking Ridge area. And with the nice weather started to make its way out you can bet we'll have another one of our lemonade stands.
If you would like more information or to volunteer for any of these events please contact us as Tim@Smilesforkidsfoundation.org

Follow up
I would like to start this by saying thank you to everyone who helped at the Rock the Park concert on October 1st. You are all awesome for donating your time!!
As we all know we had a little bit of a set back from the original date of September 2nd due to the hurricane which pushed the show to October 1st. Then on October 1st we had another set back with more rain until about 11:30am. But we all held in there with good faith that the sun would come out and it sure did!!
It was a slow morning, but we had a good draw of people mid day that helped us out. Everyone that did come out had a wonderful time for a great cause and that is what counts! We were able to raise $1730 from Rock the Park and from the Rail on Main show the following Friday.
The fact that everyone had a good time tells us that we are on the right track and that we will also plan on Rock the Park again for next year!!
I hope to see you all there!!
Thank you sooo much again for your support!!!
Keep a look out for Smiles For Kids lemonade stands!
They have already been sited in the Bernard Township area! Local children have taken the initiative to raise money for a great cause all by themselves! This is such an awesome idea!! Keep up the good work kids!!
